    Verdict

Mark Johnston is more than capable of sending out a runner to win at the first time of asking and his representative Thebes, a half-brother to Aahayson, has to be respected along with Bahamian Lad, but preference is for Sazerac. The selection looked as though he would come on a bundle for his debut effort at Southwell on Tuesday when not helped by making a slow start before being heavily eased late on and Derek Shaw's gelding is taken to have learned from that and improve sufficiently to land this event. Felicia has shown only a modicum of ability in two starts so far, while Rightcar Hull ran better at Lingfield last time but needs to improve again to trouble the judge. Reg Hollinshead's Bahamian Lad is more experienced than the rest of the field put together and has to be respected on the pick of his form but he is proving expensive to follow. Sazerac could be interesting on only his second start though and a chance is taken with Derek Shaw's runner.
