Verdict

MERRYMAKER can follow up a recent turf success with Mohawk Star and Rare Coincidence nominated as the dangers. Merrymaker has had something of an interesting past and is clearly one with ideas about the game. That said, a record of four from 12 on artificial surfaces is nothing to be sniffed at and he did well to win at Catterick off a decent gallop. The drop in trip should not be a problem. Mohawk Star may have paid the penalty for a number of runs within a short space of time. A mark of 64 is arguably fair on reflection. Rare Coincidence would have found 12 furlongs much too sharp and is likely to have come on for that recent pipe-opener. Foursquare Flyer has switched stables following a February nightmare with John Mackie. Darley castoff Silk Hall is still a maiden but kept on well at Yarmouth. Into The Light had been away from the track for a while so it would be no surprise to see him build upon his most recent effort. Queen Excalibur is exposed as plating class under National Hunt rules though she put up one of her better efforts in a recent conditionals race at Stratford.
