In depth

Verdict

In a very poor contest we have to side with the recent form of HERBERT CRESCENT, who has been heading in the right direction in his last two starts and is still looking dangerous at the weights, but both Gifted Heir and Insomnitas have claims on this basement prize too. An introduction to this lowly class has done the trick for the selection, who only found one too good on his last start which came over course and distance. He chased the winner home that day to go close so off the same mark we can expect another bold bid. Gifted Heir is really the only other in the race to show a semblance of form recently. A course and distance winner Alan Bailey's charge should go well in this company despite his recent best coming off lower marks. Insomintas makes a raid from Ireland but we read little into that as opportunities are limited for a horse of this standard on the Emerald Isle at present, however, his run at Folkestone in a seller three starts back gives him some chance. Fathzo also makes the voyage from Ireland but is wildly out of form while any cash about for May Parkin would be interesting after a long lay-off.
