      In depth

      Verdict

In a wide open handicap Garibaldi is just given the nod ahead of Oldenway and Tedstale. David Elsworth's four-year-old returns to the flat following a couple of spins over hurdles. He was successful in a maiden at Lingfield back in November, a race that has worked out reasonably well and he gets into this handicap on a very fair mark. Oldenway has the proven handicap form having easily beaten Spitting Image four days ago. If in the same mood this afternoon he will be a tough nut to crack. On a line through Spitting Image Tedstale has quite a bit to find with Oldenway, but his overall form is pretty solid and a big run can be expected. Bethanys Boy is pretty fairly treated for this afternoon's event and is another worthy of respect, however Garibaldi has more scope for improvement than most of these and he gets the decision.
