Verdict
An interesting contest with a collections of lightly raced and potentially well handicapped three-year-olds in opposition. They include Lightsabre who stepped up on previous efforts when a close second on his handicap bow at Southwell earlier in the month. Sir Mark Prescott's charge is open to plenty of improvement and is feared off an identical mark. Royal Grand is a course and distance winner (now 6lb higher) but has a little to find with Captain Hardy on recent Southwell form. The latter didn't appear to last home over 7f next time and is another to consider back over this shorter trip but the tentative vote goes to Every Note Counts. The William Jarvis-trained colt followed a maiden win here with a fine effort when fourth in a useful handicap at Lingfield late last month. The colt travelled easily and looked the likely winner early in the straight but could find no extra in the closing stages. This furlong shorter trip should prove ideal and the son of Bluegrass Prince can take advantage off the same mark.
