Verdict
Russian Rumour won over a longer trip at Bath last month, though had an apprentice’s 7lb allowance in his favour, while Champagne City’s earlier success at Pontefract came over 2m2f so AL AZHAR is preferred. The latter finished well clear of a subsequent winner when runner-up at Salisbury last time and looks worth another try over this extra distance with his amateur rider claiming 7lb. Brasca was still beaten a long way when third over today’s trip at Haydock two runs ago, though posted a better effort last time.
