In depth

Verdict

A terribly weak maiden that should concern just three, namely Mr Emirati, Red Rhythm and AMERICAN SMOOTH. Preference is for the latter, representing a yard whose strike-rate here comes in just short of 25%. A 20,000gns purchase, this horse is closely related to several speedy all-weather winners and, with George Baker booked to ride (33% for the yard in recent seasons) a winning debut is anticipated. Red Rhythm caught the eye of paddock watchers ahead of his debut and showed enough promise to deserve respect, particularly as horses from the yard tend to improve for their debut runs. He's selected to fill the forecast spot ahead of Mr Emirati, who shaped with reasonable promise on his belated return to the track but one suspects handicaps will prove more fruitful.
