    Verdict

Mandiba gets the vote in the finale with Sariba and Doctor John the others for the shortlist. The selection showed an improved level of form when a short-head second to Sun Hill at Southwell last time. He is stepped up in trip here and with Kieren Fallon taking over in the plate he looks set to go close. Sariba could represent the main danger as he is back on the flat after a spell over the obstacles, and he would certainly have a chance on the pick of his form. He won well at Bath when defeating Its Your Bid back in July but has been disappointing to follow overall so is passed over in favour of our selection. Doctor John and Sportsman both have a fair level of form and could be capable of going well, especially if the market vibes are positive, but in a poor contest we will give Mandiba the nomination.
