In depth

Verdict

The two older horses are hard to recommend while all the three-year-olds step up from a mile on their seasonal debuts. New Day wasn’t beaten far at Kempton in November but the Gosden yard’s Haykal struggled in soft going at Doncaster on her debut. PERCY’S PRIDE ran in a Listed race at Pontefract in October but she’s a full-sister to three middle-distance winners including the useful pair Lady Tiana and Blakeney Point and Bill Knight’s filly may prove the one to side with.
