In depth

Verdict

Phoenix Star won over the minimum trip at Newcastle and is 8lb higher while Nubough went close at Ayr last time but has just the one win in 23 attempts. Bezzas Lad is upped in class and The Lamplighter is preferred in this grade but A Sure Welcome hasn’t raced since January. BATCHELOR BOY (NAP) wasn’t at his best in the soft going at Ascot recently but has won three times here and, back on a winning mark with George Boughey’s yard in flying form, he gets the vote.
