In depth
Verdict
Although lack of experience on the surface is a concern, Blaina has plenty in hand over her rivals on official BHB ratings and gets the vote over the consistent, but exposed, Monte Mayor Lad and Wainwright. Although placed in his last two starts, both over six furlongs, the last mentioned should appreciate the return to today's distance and rates a bigger threat to the selection than Monte Mayor Lad, who ran his customary good race here on Monday when a close third, rallying inside the final furlong, behind Bond Playboy. Blaina has yet to race on the all-weather but has the best part of a stone in hand over her two main rivals today and, provided that she handles the surface, David Elsworth's filly should be too good for the opposition. Jagged has place claims on the ratings but there is a suspicion that he is better at Lingfield and hails from a stable out of form anyway. Victory Flip looks fully exposed after 20 starts and a bigger danger may be the unexposed Nicholas Nickelby, who is entitled to improve for his debut effort earlier in the month. However, Blaina sets a decent standard and gets the vote.
