In depth
Verdict
A race (where minimum stakes would be a good policy to take out) can go to Princess Taylor, who has at least shown some signs of ability and gets the nod over Letham Island and the newcomer Super Gifted. The last named is related to a multiple winner in Germany and is sure to have benefited from the care and skill of Henry Cecil. However, her obviously lack of experience and a wide draw leave her with a stiff test on her racecourse bow and she may be better for the run. Letham Island will never be a star at Mark Johnston's yard, but did shape as if she can win a race by going close at Sothwell eight days ago. A more patient approach could bring about a different outcome and she is sure to be in there pitching near the finish. However, Princess Taylor gets the nod on this occasion. The daughter of Singspiel looks to be learning with every run and, as she would be giving plenty of weight away if this were a handicap, this appears to be a good piece of placement by Marco Botti.
