In depth

Verdict

A very ordinary maiden that can go to Bill Bennet, who has a solid chance of reversing recent form with Crackleando on these terms; especially as Ian Mongan has seen fit to side with the son of Bishop Of Cashel instead of teaming up with his Nick Littmoden-trained rival. Of the rest: Par Indiana made an encouraging debut at this course last month but, as he is by an Indian Ridge sprinter, he may need a little more time before this trip becomes his ideal. While Sky Cove and Vesta Flame have shown little to date and will no doubt fare better once they step into handicap-company. The remainder will undoubtedly find their niche in the course of time and can be placed accordingly as the opportunities open up. However, today looks set up for a bold show from Bill Bennet and, granted a clear passage this time around, he can confirm the official assessor's estimation of him being the best horse in the race at this stage.
