Verdict

A hugely competitive handicap to start proceedings with three of the entries having won their last eight races between them. Paul Green has done a brilliant job with M J Woodward, who has won five times since October. Not surprisingly he's shot up the ratings as a consequence and will find this tougher. Monumental Man completed his hat-trick in such convincing fashion at Lingfield that the assessor raised him 9lb and he's now 21lb higher than when his winning run began. He's probably capable of further progress but is another who will needs to find a bit more as HOLY ANGEL looks the one to be on. Tim Easterby's charge landed an apprentice contest over 6f here and wasn't penalised when following up over the track and trip. With his successful rider able to claim her full allowance a hat-trick looks on the cards. Cardinal will make them all go as he's better off than for an unlucky defeat by M J Woodward last time.
