In depth

Verdict

Glenbuck makes plenty of appeal in this competitive handicap; cases can also be made for Lake Shabla, Eccollo and Vacation when drawing up a shortlist of contenders. vacation won well over course and distance earlier in the month and has to be respected from only a 4lb higher mark. This is a stiffer ask and he needs to be at his very best. Eccollo has shot up the ratings after making a smooth transition from Banded Stakes into handicap company. However, his limitations were exposed last time out and he will have to dig very deep to repel this lot. Lake Shabla is a filly with scope for further progress and will be a threat if she takes to the surface. However, Glenbuck goes well here and, as he is unexposed at the trip, the Alan Bailey-trained gelding gets the nod on the grounds of potential.
