Verdict

STANDPOINT attracted a significant amount of support on debut in what was a decent conditions event at Kempton and although finishing fourth of five runners, his proximity to what were smart juveniles leaves him very much the one to beat here. The fact he attracted so much support was interesting while added to that is that he was allowed to commence his career in what was a decent conditions event could be cited as noteworthy. Caerus hails from a yard who have introduced a couple of smart juveniles throughout the course of the summer. He made a promising debut under far from ideal circumstances where he was carried wide in to the straight before staying on well. The fourth didn't exactly frank the form on his nursery debut but there was sufficient promise to suggest a maiden might well be within his capabilities. Officer In Command was green throughout the early stages of his debut but stayed on well to fill the placings. That did not look a good maiden though. The Johannesburg juvenile George Rex makes a quick reappearance following his debut at Newbury seven days ago. The winner of that maiden was Huntdown was in a different league to his rivals but George Rex was never asked a serious question to finish fifth and those around him did look promising sorts. It is also worth noting Brian Meehan¿s renowned record of improving his juveniles from first to second run. Braveheart Move is well-related and worth bearing in mind for handicaps next season while Darwin's Dragon finished mid-division in an auction maiden seven days ago at Newmarket. That experience should stand to him but Standpoint displayed enough on debut to suggest a maiden of this quality is well within his grasp and he should win it.
