Verdict
The Last Bottle showed improved form last time out and is selected ahead of Elusive Lady and Natural Rhythm. There may also be more to come from Piermarini, who starts his handicap career at a modest level, but he has failed to trouble the judge in any of his previous starts, so has improvement to find on these terms. Natural Rhythm is exposed as ordinary and, even though his latest start was encouraging, he is not noted for consistency, so is not one to rely upon too heavily. Elusive Lady won her maiden in good style here last month and is respected on that form. Still, she steps up in distance this afternoon, so has a bit more on her plate on this occasion. Therefore, it can pay to stick with The Last Bottle, who has been crying out for a longer trip and, as his second behind the 76-rated Ten Pole Tudor sets the standard for the time being, Mark Brisbourne's charge looks the logical choice today.
