In depth

Verdict

Very Special One, Bella Bonkers and Makeabreak look the three to concentrate on in this competitive opener and the narrow vote is given to Bella Bonkers. The selection was a good second on her debut behind Bonchester Bridge in a bumper. She is sure to have been well schooled for this her hurdling debut and given nominal improvement she will be hard to beat under conditions that suit. Very Special One rates the main danger as at least he has experience over obstacles and he was a fair fifth behind Unite when last seen. However he gave the impression he would be suited by further on that occasion and he may just need the run after a 250 day absence so for that reason he is opposed. Makeabreak is another worthy of respect as he won well last time out when beating Retro's Girl but that was in a mares only bumper and this looks more competitive so she is overlooked. Of the remainder Novacella showed enough in three runs last season to suggest she could win a race of this nature but most of her stable have ran as if in need of there first run and for that reason she is passed over on this occasion and in a race where the market will be very informative for the winner we return to Bella Bonkers.
