In depth

Verdict

A weak race despite the numbers and the three to concentrate on appear to be Cartier Opera, who will not need to be anything out of the ordinary for her British debut, Make Haste Slowly, who at least has some course experience, and Lord Nellsson, who is a long-standing maiden but has claims on the pick of his efforts. However, preference is for the first named, who has faced some top-class opposition in France and will be very hard to beat if translating any of that ability to this sphere of racing. Venetia Williams has done very well with horses of this type over the years and she could have a very useful recruit on her hands if Cartier Opera can take a hurdle cleanly under race conditions.
