Verdict
The temptation to wade in with Governor Daniel is resisted in favour of the value that is likely to be available about Arabian Moon, who is in the right hands if he were to return to form for Timmy Murphy today. Ask Me What, did finish in front of the selection last time and also has to be respected. However, there has to be a suspicion that this will be on the sharp side for him though and he is no certainty to repeat the effort on these terms over this much shorter trip. Governor Daniel made hay in this grade last season and has to be a serious contender this afternoon. He has won 19 of his 51 previous starts and owes absolutely nothing to anyone. However, he has been off the track since December and, even though he has gone well fresh in the past, at the age of twelve he may just need this and looks opposable at likely cramped odds. Which is where we turn to Arabian Moon, who tries his hand in a claimer for the first time this afternoon. The ground should not be an issue with the son of Barathea, who is fancied to bounce back over this more appropriate trip in what is his easiest engagement for some time.
