In depth

Verdict

The betting will help in this opening maiden but despite the well-regarded stables on show, the form of those to have raced previously is woeful so newcomers Opal Haze, Best One and Kaichou take the eye and the vote goes to Opal Haze. John Gosden's juveniles can often need the experience of their first run however the booking of jockey Kevin Darley takes the eye and assuming that the market speaks relatively in his favour, she can make a winning debut. Earl Marshall could be the pick of those to have raced so far. Sir Michael Stoute's runner showed little on debut but may have improved over the winter and should be monitored for market support. Kaichou and Best One look to have been placed in a poor maiden so neither would need to be out of the ordinary to make a winning debut, however Opal Haze can land this opener.
