Verdict

From a big field for this contest, we'll side with BEGGAR'S END, but also consider the claims of Highland Laddie and Caltire. The selection has the highest official rating of all the runners, but is well in at the weights, and one of the least exposed. Ed Vaughan's taken the blinkers off for this contest, only his 4th run and second at the distance. Highland Laddie returns to the flat following a couple of hurdling attempts, as they try and find what sort of level he should be at. Caltire is the only runner to have won over this trip, and that was on his last but one flat race at Brighton. He's not finished the two hurdle races he went for, and having previously won on the all-weather, if at his best could be the one here. This race is the weakest link on the card, it won't take much winning, but we think it could go the way of Beggar's End.
