Verdict
Princess Ismene can defy a six pounds penalty here to beat the likes of Tardis and Swagger Stick. New trainer Jonathan Jay has quickly made his mark, sending out the filly to score at Leicester nine days ago. She overcame a slow start to come through and win going away over the stiff seven furlongs and this mile will be no problem for her. The competition is a bit tougher but an inspection of her earlier form reveals that she has taken on rivals as good, if not better than these over the past few months. She is entered at Catterick on Saturday as well but connections are favouring today's nursery which could be a hint in itself. Tardis was down the field on her nursery bow at Chepstow and might be worth taking on until her weight is revised, but Swagger Stick is definitely worth keeping an eye on now that he has qualified for these type of events. The same applies to Buchanan Street whose latest outing at Leicester was too bad to be true. He is better judged on his earlier efforts at Newmarket. There are quite a few in with chances, but Princess Ismene has more chance than most.
