Verdict
Port Alfred has the ability to win a race of this nature though he also seems to possess a number of quirks and they have become regrettably apparent during his last couple of starts. Kaab earned a rating of 85 for his victory over course and distance on soft going, and despite the assessor's decision to revise his opinion in the interim, the claims of TIDENANDTIME appear more obvious. Mick Channon's five-year-old has hit the frame on two of his three starts this season and with his favoured fast ground, there is plenty to recommend him. Swendab has tended to come to hand at this time of the season, and having dropped 11lb since the start of the campaign, John O'Shea's six-year-old is watched closely in the betting. Jungle Bay was behind our selection at Windsor and simply isn't running well at present.
