    In depth

Donatavium looks the one to beat here with Magaling the most likely to chase him home. John Gosden's gelding is already rated 87 after finishing seventh, beaten ten lengths in the Windsor Castle at Ascot. That was the first time that he had sported the blinkers but they are left off today and he should prove hard to beat, despite the likelihood that his mark flatters him. Magaling has shown ability in two starts to date and his Gyr form from Goodwood last time looks solid; this Medicean colt must be a huge danger. Tarzan represents a stable going well and should have learnt from his debut fifth, whilst Mr Redford and Minenotyours would need to improve markedly on what we have seen to date in order to trouble the principles. Newcomers Celtic Rebel and Spinight should be monitored for market support, however it is Donatavium who receives the vote.

Celtic Rebel (IRE) Bahri colt, half-brother to 6f-1m winner Celtic Sultan.

Donativum 33-1 (9-3) Took keen hold, held up, headway 2f out, driven, stayed on under pressure inside final furlong, not pace to threaten leaders, 7th of 25, 6l behind Flashmans Papers (9-3) at Ascot 5f 2yo lst stk (1) gf in Jun.

Flamboyant Red (IRE) 100-1 (8-10) Chased clear leader until over 2f out, 10th of 15, 23l behind Ashram (9-3) at Newmarket 7f 2yo mdn auc (4) gs.

Magaling (IRE) 2-1fav (9-0) In touch on rail, ridden, hung right from 2f out, 4th, no impression on leading trio, when eased final 50 yards, 4th of 11, 2 1/2l behind Gyr (9-0) at Goodwood 6f 2yo mdn (2) gd in Jul.

    Minenotyours (IRE) 50-1 (9-3) Mid-division, ridden and weakened over 1f out, 11th of 13, 17l behind Lesley's Choice (9-3) at Southwell 5f 2yo mdn (5) fbs in Jul.
