      Verdict

      Not too many rising stars here as a number of old friends are on view and the shortlist consists of El Alamein, Jack Dawson and Darghan and our vote is for Darghan. The six year old is hardly consistent but there is not a great deal of pace here and it could be that the twelve furlong specialist has the edge over runners proven over further. El Alamein started off from an incredibly low base but has disappointed backers in the past at short odds. He has responded well on a return from a break so there would be no surprise to see the backers getting involved. Jack Dawson showed little on a return from absence but the top grade hurdler should relish this trip and should not be too readily discounted from calculations. Duroob has dropped significantly in the weights in recent months and it could be argued that he is well handicapped on some of those earlier efforts. Bendarshaan won over two miles when trained by Mark Johnston but has shown little since joining Chris Dwyer. A trappy affair in which many hold chances on their better form and we side with Darghan.
