In depth

Verdict

A wide open looking handicap in which we will give the tentative vote to VIENNA AFFAIR with both Avontuur and Doric Lady added to the short list. The selection has his first run in a handicap after showing some promise in his three maiden runs. He was not beaten far when finishing fourth of fifteen over course and distance last time out and looks more than capable of winning a race off his new handicap mark of 65. Avountuur has plenty of experience winning five times in total so far. He seems to prefer a soft surface these days as his last win was on heavy going at Ayr at the beginning of the month so any further rain will be most welcome. Doric lady broke her maiden tag here over six furlongs last month. She ran well enough off the same mark as today when third of thirteen in a handicap at Leicester last time out and another solid effort can be expected. But for the winner we return to Vienna Affair.
