In depth

Quite a trappy little handicap. Squats is of interest dropped into Class 3 company but has lost the winning touch and might be best watched. The jury is also out on Race Day while course and distance winner Horsted Keynes has been somewhat low key on both starts this season. Dance Teacher has to be considered after bouncing back to form last time, however, and Ower Fly continues to ply his trade with commendable consistency. MAZZINI has achieved all three career successes on artificial surfaces but went desperately close to breaking his maiden on Turf when inched out at Doncaster by Spanish City. He faces the same trip and ground here and gets the nod despite a 2lb hike for that latest praiseworthy effort.

Squats (IRE) 10-1 (9-5) Took keen hold, soon prominent, driven and lost place 2f out, weakened final furlong, 10th of 12, 10 1/4l behind Above The Rest (10-0) at York 7f hcp (2) gf in Jun.

Race Day (IRE) 25-1 (9-0) Mid-division, lost place over 2f out, soon behind, last of 15, 21 3/4l behind Seniority (8-11) at Chelmsford City 1m hcp (2) pol in Jun.

Mazzini 25-1 (9-2) Chased leaders, led over 1f out, headed approaching final furlong, rallied and every chance final 100 yards, kept on, 2nd of 15, hd behind Spanish City (9-1) at Doncaster 7f hcp (3) gf in Jun.

Ower Fly 9-2 (9-8) Led, ridden and strongly pressed inside final furlong, headed and no extra close home, 2nd of 8, 1/2l behind Oriental Lilly (8-9) at Ayr 6f hcp (3) gd in Jun.

Horsted Keynes (FR) 16-1 (9-6) Held up towards rear, headway over 2f out, chased leaders over 1f out, faded final furlong, 9th of 14, 7l behind Hajjam (9-4) at Redcar 7f hcp (3) gf in Jun.

Lady Freyja 10-1 (9-3) In touch, headway when slightly hampered over 1f out, kept on one pace, 4th of 8, 3l behind Breanski (9-7) at Yarmouth 1m hcp (4) gf in Jun.

Dance Teacher (IRE) 15-8fav (9-2) Made all, ridden and went for home 2f out, just lasted, won at Kempton 1m hcp fll (4) pol in Jun beating Oh It's Saucepot (9-2) by shd, 6 ran.
