Verdict

First Edition missed a race at Ascot yesterday for this and would have to be considered on his close third in a Goodwood Class 2 handicap a week ago. First Folio is 7lb higher than when scoring here in June while Desert Gulf struggled off his raised mark after completing a Yarmouth double. Pagan is stepping up in class from 8lb higher after a comfortable Brighton victory and BERGERAC led to this trip when tackling 6f on good to soft at Doncaster so the shorter trip and faster conditions can enable him to hang on.
