Verdict

MOORHOUSE GIRL looks worth siding with here ahead of Taborcillo and Kalahari Desert; the newcomers to fear look likely to be Coolminx and Marius Maximus. David Brown's Makbul filly is a half-sister to the classy Moorhouse Lad. He was unable to win until his sixth start so perhaps not too much should be expected of his sibling but after such a promising first run at Beverley she must be of interest. She will be all the wiser for that run and Neil Callan looks an interesting jockey booking. Taborcillo is one to watch closely in the betting with the stable in good form and this gelding made a pleasing start at 16/1 on his debut at Thirsk, whilst Kalahari Desert was a bit keen last time out at Carlisle and a return to a flatter track may help him last home. With an official rating of 70, the locally-trained and locally-named Heslington is likely to be popular with David Allan booked for the ride, however a bigger danger may be the newcomers. Marius Maximus represents a yard that send some of their better two-year-old's to the track and having made 120,000 guineas at the sales this Kheylef colt must be of interest. Similarly Coolminx catches the eye, as do the future entries of the Tom Tate-trained debutant Walvis Bay. Evidently this well-related colt has been showing some speed at home and it would be safe to assume that a bold show is expected. An open contest, where the betting should help, however it is Moorhouse Girl who just edges the vote.
