      Verdict

Enough pace on here to suggest that the race will be run to suit SPIDERS STAR; Simon West's consistent mare is preferred to Deauville Flyer and Whenever. All ground seems to come alike to the selection and although a 6lb rise in the weights makes life tough, the feeling is that she still has more to give. The steady tempo set by Promise Maker last time out at Catterick won't have played to her strengths and Paul Pickard evidently gets on very well with the mare. Fin Vin De Leu got the run of the race when winning at Beverley and his rivals are unlikely to be as kind today, Baan tries the cheek-pieces having failed to land the hat-trick last time, whilst Simonside's beating of Saga De Tercey reads well and his Epsom flop last time can be ignored. Whenever drops in class; Richard Phillips' cumbersome gelding has plenty of ability and would be a threat if getting into a good rhythm. The return to a longer trip will suit Umverti, Deauville Flyer is unexposed and shapes as if he'll relish this trip, whilst Dulcie has caught the eye in defeat recently and is one to keep on the right side of. An interesting handicap, where many have stamina to prove, but not Spiders Star who is given the nomination.
