Verdict
Not one favourite has won this in 10 years. Carthage finished an excellent fourth last year behind Libran, who has been doing brilliantly in Australia and is now 20lb higher. Brian Ellison won the race in 2014 and it would be no surprise if the five-year-old, who has been hurdling, bounced back to form. The Malton-based handler also runs DOMINADA and he's handed the vote in a tight handicap. The winner of a Class 2 handicap at Catterick in September, he has also scored over hurdles and with Ben Robinson, who rode a winner for the stable on Friday, using his 7lb claim he looks well enough treated to give a good account. Yorkidding won a three-year-old handicap over the track and trip at this meeting last year but there has been something amiss on her two latest starts. Busy Street, Prendergast Hill and Appeared are lightly-raced maiden winners showing enough potential to get competitive and Craggaknock has been going well in soft ground. Muhaafiz is still a maiden and tackles this trip for the first time, though the booking of Ryan Moore is a real eye-catcher.
