MON BRAV is given the vote in this tricky opener ahead of Kingdom Of Light, Tom Folan and Mr Smithson. Declan Carroll's colt was a winner on his debut at Beverly and then far from disgraced at Epsom last time out when stepped up into Listed company. That form looks solid and now dropped back to five furlongs and on a more conventional track he looks worth siding with. Top weight Kingdom Of Light was last seen in the Norfolk Stakes where he was well-held behind Radiohead. A tongue-tie is tried today which may help and the market should help guide as to whether connections believe that a mark of 87 is workable. Final Ovation needs to improve for the drop in trip, but his second to Reignier reads well, as does Mr Smithson's second to Ceedwell at Carlisle in May and Louis-Phillipe Beuzelin looks an interesting booking for the horse who tries a visor for the first time. Italian Tom needs to run better than at Lingfield just the other day but connections are shrewd, a comment that also applies to Gertmegalush. Vilnius has had two decent opportunities of late but has been unable to take advantage; however the rain at Musselburgh last time was against her and she should appreciate this ground more if it stays dry. Chris Catlin looks a good booking for Six Wives who hasn't looked completely straight-forward, whilst Tom Folan is an interesting Namid filly who may not be badly treated on a mark of 75 for her first run in Nursery company. An open affair, but it is Mon Brav who is preferred.
