Verdict

Cultivar had to work hard to justify favouritism in a Haydock maiden last month and is likely to find this tougher still on ground that may be softer than ideal and preference is for REBEL SOLDIER, who is preferred to Ejteyaaz. Richard Fahey's gelding, who was formerly trained in Ireland, improved from his first effort for the stable when narrowly beaten at Newcastle last month and he has solid claims off just a 1lb higher mark today. Howard Johnson's Maison Brillet is likely to find this tougher than the race that he won at Thirsk last time, while Mark Johnston's lightly raced Solicitor is hard to weigh up having won very easily at Southwell when last seen in November and he could be of great interest off a mark of 81 on his handicap debut. The Michael Jarvis-trained Thaahira has an obvious chance on the pick of her limited form but that has been on better ground than she is going to face here and preference is for Rebel Soldier. Jeremy Noseda's colt created a favourable impression when making a winning start to his career in a Lingfield maiden in February and was subsequently disappointing in a Newbury handicap but she looks worth siding with on ground that should suit ideally.
