Royal Residence was second in the Bronze Cup at Ayr after winning at Carlisle and finished ahead of a number of today’s rivals including Tawny Port, Dalton, Tommy G and Equitation. He is clearly at the top of his game at present and is one for the short-list. Fendale won over 5f here in June and was third last month at Ripon so is another to consider. Gin In The Inn returned to winning ways at Pontefract and, despite a 4lb rise, is still on a winning mark. TRESORIER ran a fine race dropped to 6f in a premier handicap at the Curragh last month. He can race off his correct mark today and Ray Dawson takes off 5lb so he shouldn’t be far away again. War Whisper has never won beyond 5f and neither has Tuesday’s Newcastle scorer Outrage but the distance is no problem for The Armed Man.
