Verdict
In another competitive sprint handicap, Fayr Jag is taken to land the prize, with Prince Cyrano and Pieter Brueghel the biggest dangers. Tim Easterby's gelding carries a three pound penalty here for winning a decent race at Pontefract last time, with today's opponents Simianna fourth, Pieter Brueghel eighth and Grey Cossack 11th. Pieter Brueghel could close the gap here, as he has since finished a fair third to Namroud at Chester and Dandy Nicholls' charge may be hitting peak fitnesss now, but Fayr Jag had earlier finished a good third to Border Subject over this course and distance, and is fancied to get his nose in front once again. Best of the rest could be Willie Musson's Prince Cyrano, who is well handicapped on last year's form and showed when second from a poor draw at Windsor last time that his turn may not be far away.
