Verdict

Gracious John won in this grade at Newbury last month though encounters faster ground today. Major Jumbo won here in September and has been raised a further 6lb for winning at Newmarket on his reappearance while both Sheepscar Lad and Royal Brave are upped in class on the back of recent victories. El Astronaute remains 7lb higher than when last successful and Copper Knight won over track and trip at this time last year but found Holmeswood too good back here in August. Desert Law beat Edward Lewis over an extended 5f at the track last season and is preferred to stablemate Line Of Reason but the vote goes to POYLE VINNIE. The latter hasn’t won for over a year now but switched yards at the start of the season and gave notice of a return to form with a recent second at Thirsk. Ruth Carr’s new charge finished third in last year’s renewal off a 16lb higher mark with Orient Class behind and should go close with a similar effort.
