Verdict
Eddystone Rock won over this trip at Ascot 11 days ago when Aircraft Carrier and Blue Laureate were unplaced. Second in the Ascot Stakes last year, Dubawi Fifty was only caught in the shadows of the post on his reappearance in the Northumberland Plate but was below his best at Goodwood last month. Makawee has yet to run a bad race around here but was edged out over course and distance by Mancini last month. Carnwennan was on a four-timer last time at Newbury but was the first beaten and finished well adrift of Rare Groove. Melting Dew is starting to look very well treated and Charles Kingsley is worth a try over 2m but Sleeping Lion and Infrastructure look better treated. BLAKENEY POINT was fifth in last year’s Ebor when 6lb higher. He’s won three times over 2m and has been struggling for pace over 1m4f lately. Berthed to grab a good position, this will bring his stamina into play.
