Verdict
Unbeaten prior to chasing home Camelot in the Investec Derby, when he had Thought Worthy behind, MAIN SEQUENCE did nothing wrong in the Grand Prix De Paris next time despite hating the soft ground. The form of his earlier win in the Derby Trial at Lingfield looks very solid and David Lanigan's stable star can get back to winning ways here. This is a strong line-up, however, with the fast-improving Thomas Chippendale bidding to land the hat-trick after beating Noble Mission and Thought Worthy in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. Noble Mission went on to get the better of Encke in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood though Godolphin also run Energizer, who won over 1m2f at Royal Ascot and is trying 1m4f for the first time. A St Leger entry suggests he'll stay.
