    Verdict

Only one three-year-old has won this in the last 10 years but Convey was thought good enough to make his seasonal bow in a Group 3 at Goodwood and has lots of scope. Left unchallenged for the lead at Pontefract, Mondialiste romped home by ten lengths and there is no obvious candidate to take him on here. He was narrowly beaten in the Lincoln back in March by Gabrial and the latter finished a creditable third behind Solow in the Sussex Stakes last time having earlier been beaten in Listed company here by TOP NOTCH TONTO. Brian Ellison's charge just missed out behind Tullius in the Group 2 Sky Bet York Stakes at the track last month and a repeat should see him go close again. Dane O'Neill prefers Mahsoob to the returning Mutakayyef and the Wolferton winner can figure while Basem is another to consider given his trainer's good record in the race.
