Verdict

Gospel Choir makes a belated seasonal debut off an 8lb higher mark than when winning at Haydock last August. But given his connections, he's likely to start a short enough price on his comeback while Winterlude will also be somewhere near the head of the betting having beaten Come On Blue Chip on his handicap debut at Doncaster. White Nile is another lightly-raced sort who could figure on his return to action while Kiama Bay has beaten both Rio's Rosanna and Scatter Dice in the process of landing a recent double. The latter's stablemate Party Line scored over a longer trip last time but Castilo Del Diablo makes more appeal despite a 6lb rise for finishing second at Kempton last month. HANOVERIAN BARON has run well in more competitive affairs than this since suffering a narrow-margin defeat over track and trip back in May. Unlucky in-running at Haydock last time, Tony Newcombe's charge can run a big race in the opener.
