      Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute has an excellent record on the Knavesmire and frequently runs promising sorts in competitive handicaps. On this occasion it's the Dansili colt, HAKKA, who arrives with just a couple of runs on Tapeta to his name. The actual form means little in such a well-contested affair but this looks a fair mark for his handicap debut and he's presumably thought well of by his master trainer. He looks the sort to make up into a useful four-year-old and can follow up a smooth Wolverhampton success last time. Intiwin and Simply Shining give Richard Fahey, who does well here, a strong hand, with both benefiting from the allowances of talented apprentices. David O' Meara is another man to always note in York handicaps but he doesn't make life easy for punters by sending out a trio of contenders, of which He's No Saint makes greatest appeal and could well emerge as the main danger to the selection.
