In depth

Verdict

Minshar looks more than capable of breaking her duck at the second time of asking in this weak looking fillies' maiden, while Welcome Return will probably chase her home and Flop looks best of the rest. The selection showed the best form on offer here when third at Goodwood on debut and she has got plenty of scope for improvement. She handled good to soft that day and she should be able to cope with it softer, while the step up in trip should suit, so she gets the vote. Welcome Return has raced only on a sound surface so far, so this is the unknown for her. Even so, she put up her best effort on her second of three starts when runner up in a good ground Newcastle maiden, so maybe slower ground will help. Whatever your views on that she seems best watched again with cut, while Flop did not really enjoy juice in the ground on either start so far and will probably be found wanting again. Keep an eye on the market for a guide to the chances of the newcomers, but we will take Minshar to land the opener.
