Verdict

The reapplication of blinkers can help Smugglers Bay get his nose back in front in the finale, with Les Fazzani an interesting opponent and Getrah looking best of the other trio. Smugglers Bay represents the in-form Tim Easterby yard and has played in part in the stable's recent successes with a Beverley win over a mile. Since then he has twice finished runner up and Saturday's effort when a beaten favourite in terrible ground at Ripon proved his stamina and also suggested that he is not an easy ride, so blinkers here are a definite plus. Les Fazzani has never raced on such a soft surface so has to prove he can acts on it. If he does however, he will not be far away. He looked very much an improver at Kempton last time and the step up in trip should not inconvenience. Getrah was a heavy ground Ripon winner earlier in the month, when he stayed on well. He should take the extra furlong in his stride and with more to come he can also go close. Jibajaba and Look So need favours from the handicapper but are not completely out of it, but Smugglers Bay will get every yard here and the headgear can prove beneficial.
