Anything ridden by Simon Walker in races like this demands close inspection and Hamilton third Buccaneers Vault is no exception, though could have had a better draw. Mick Easterby loves a winner on the Knavesmire and he’ll be expecting a big run from the unexposed MADROOS, who made a promising start for new connections at Catterick. Bahamian Bird won easily at the same track earlier this month and looks to have improved over the winter while Explain and Theodorico are other recent winners. Boots And Spurs was just touched off over a mile at Thirsk last week and Alpine Dream and Dark Forest have claims from lower down the weights. Hugo Hunt’s mount Tukhoom could also figure if fully wound-up.
