St Helens ran in eight tries as they secured an emphatic 46-26 engage Super League XVI victory over Castleford.
Royce Simmons' side went 18-0 in front inside the first 14 minutes thanks to tries from James Graham, Michael Shenton and Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Jamie Foster converting all three scores.
However, Castleford hit back with three tries of their own, Rangi Chase, Kirk Dixon and Nick Youngquest cutting the deficit to 18-16.
That looked like being the scoreline at the break but Paul Wellens went over late in the first period, with Foster converting again to give Saints a half-time lead of 24-16.
The visitors extended their lead 10 minutes into the second period thanks to another score from Wellens and tries from Tony Puletua and Lee Gaskell put the result beyond doubt.
There was a flurry of late tries as Kyle Eastmond split a brace of Tigers efforts from Richard Owen and Dean Widders, but it was Saints who took the two points and they leapfrog into third above Huddersfield in the standings.
