Graeme Horne and Michael Lawrence both bagged a brace of tries to help Huddersfield defeat Wakefield 34-10 at the Galpharm Stadium.
The Giants led only 6-4 at half time but moved through the gears after the break, running in five tries to warm up for next Friday's trip to Warrington.
Horne and Lawrence went over twice during a one-sided second half, though it was Danny Brough who was the star of the show for the hosts.
The former Wakefield half-back laid on three tries and also kicked five goals to help a much-changed Huddersfield team, with six players being rested ahead of the game against the Wolves, coast to victory.
Tight contest
The Wildcats - who conceded 50 points to the same opponents twice last year - did, though, make a game of it in a tightly-contested opening half.
They looked to have broken the deadlock when Luke George pounced on Ben Jeffries' kick to the corner, only for referee Robert Hicks to rule that the ball had just gone into touch before the winger grounded it.
Luke Robinson did put the first points on the board when he touched down after eight minutes, Huddersfield's joint captain for the day somehow getting away from three defenders to reach the line.
But Chris Dean levelled the scores soon after and it appeared the two teams would be locked together at four apiece at half time.
It needed a late, late Brough penalty to edge the hosts ahead right before the hooter and they then moved further clear two minutes after the restart when Horne powered his way over.
The Wildcats again responded with a try of their own, Jeffries touching down and Josh Veivers adding the conversion to make it 12-10.
Final flourish
That, however, was as close as they got to causing an upset on their travels.
Brough took centre stage, the former Scotland international having a hand in both of Lawrence's tries and also combining with Scott Grix to set up Horne's second of the afternoon shortly after the hour mark
Nathan Brown's team piled on 22 points in the final quarter of the match with Shaun Lunt grabbing their sixth try with just over five minutes remaining.
Brough kicked the last of his goals to round out another comprehensive win for his current team against his old employers - it is the sixth triumph for the Giants in their last eight meetings with Wakefield at the Galpharm.
