Highlights from the Betfred Super League clash between Leigh Leopards and Castleford Tigers.

Leigh ran in eight tries as they thrashed Castleford 46-6 to secure their place in the Betfred Super League play-offs on Thursday.

The result was never in doubt from the moment Frankie Halton put the Leopards ahead in a one-sided contest after just four minutes at Leigh Sports Village.

Lachlan Lam, Keanan Brand and Josh Charnley also crossed to make the score 24-0 at the end of a one-sided first half and the procession continued after the break.

Alec Tuitavake scored twice with Brad Dwyer and Brand also touching down as the Leopards kept themselves firmly in contention for a top-two spot and an automatic semi-final berth.

Gareth O'Brien converted seven for Adrian Lam's side, who were far too strong for a Tigers outfit simply going through the motions at the end of a dismal campaign.

Cas, above only crisis-ridden Salford in the table, at least mustered a late consolation through Tex Hoy.

Leigh blasted out of the blocks and opened the scoring when Halton raced in from a Lam pass after Brand had already gone close.

O'Brien then sent Lam over to double the lead and Brand produced a spectacular diving effort in the corner to register a third.

The Leopards added a fourth try before the break when veteran Charnley finished off a sweeping move down the left.

It might have got worse for the Tigers when Lam dabbed a dangerous kick into the in-goal area but his touch proved just too strong for the inrushing Brand.

Cas, for whom the arrival of new head coach Ryan Carr next season cannot come soon enough, briefly stemmed the tide in the second half but Tuitavake soon powered over to resume normal service.

Dwyer snaffled a loose ball to further extend the lead and Tuitavake crashed over for his second from close range.

Hoy gave the visiting fans something to cheer 10 minutes from time after good work by Liam Horne and Daejarn Asi added the goal.

But Leigh quickly hit back and had the final say as Brand grabbed his second out wide even though O'Brien, for the first time all night, could not convert.
