Salford v Hull KR: Teams

Salford full-back Luke Patten reckons his old Canterbury Bulldogs team-mate Willie Mason could be in for a shock when Hull KR visit the Willows on Friday.

The big forward stole the headlines after making his Super League debut last Sunday, Mason starring in Rovers' 40-22 win over Crusaders.

However, Patten believes he and his fellow Reds have what it takes to bring Mason back down to earth with a bump.

"He started off well," said Patten. "Obviously he's a big guy and he does take some stopping and, as we saw last week, he creates opportunities with his offloads.

"It's something we spoke about in training. But Friday night at Salford might be a bit different to Sunday afternoon at Hull KR. It could be a bit chilly and an intimidatating environment hopefully."

Even so, Salford's hopes of winning the forward battle against Mason and his new team-mates have been hit by the loss of prop Ray Cashmere, who has been banned for the second time in six weeks.

"It is a big blow," admitted Patten. "Ray has probably been our best forward this year. It's just going to mean someone else stepping up and we will have to play well as a team."

Cashmere joins fellow prop Iafeta Paleaaesina - who has a calf injury - on the sidelines but former Wakefield centre Sean Gleeson is set to make his debut after recovering from an ankle knock.

Meanwhile, Hull KR second rower Clint Newton misses his first match for more than two years after succumbing to a knee injury.
