Salford will still be under the control of caretaker coach Phil Veivers, despite the appointment of Matt Parish, for Friday's clash with Wakefield.
The City Reds announced on Thursday that Australian Parish had been chosen as the man to replace Shaun McRae on a full-time basis.
However, the former Balmain Tigers player is currently an assistant coach with the New South Wales side and will not arrive in England until mid-July after the State of Origin series has concluded.
In the meantime Veivers, who was in the running for the job, will remain at the helm, starting with the home game against the Wildcats this week.
He will be hoping that Wayne Godwin - Salford's only specialist hooker - is fit to play having missed the last two games with a shoulder injury.
If the former Bradford and Wigan forward is not available, half-back Marc Sneyd looks certain to continue in the role.
Hickey available
Wakefield go into the game four points behind their opponents and with only Crusaders below them in the Engage Super League table.
Coach John Kear could hand a debut to new recruit Jarred Hickey; the Australian prop arrived in England last week after receiving clearance.
Half-back Gareth Moore is also included in the 19-man squad for the first time this season, while Luke George, Julien Rinaldi and Josh Griffin all return.
The visitors are not at full strength, though - Stuart Howarth and Dale Morton are both sidelined with knee injuries. Kear is also unable to call upon the services of Josh Veivers and Paul King due to illness.
Salford squad: Patten, Broughton, Nero, Jewitt, Spencer, Ratchford, Holdsworth, Cashmere, Henry, Boyle, Neal, L. Adamson, Anderson, Smith, Sneyd, Gleeson, Sidlow, Paleaaesina, Godwin.
Wakefield squad: Blaymire, Murphy, George, Korkidas, Rinaldi, Henderson, Morrison, Lee, P. Johnson, Dean, Mariano, Davey, Higgins, Griffin, G. Johnson, Amor, McCarthy, Moore, Hickey.
